Candy Cane Hot Chocolate

-Hot chocolate
-Candy cane or peppermint swirl
-Whipped topping (optional)

-Christmas-themed mug
-Plastic (ziploc) bag
-Cloth or papertowl

Make the hot chocolate in the mug. Put the candy cane or peppermint swirl still in its wrapper in a plastic bag. The tight wrapping will keep the candy in place and make it easier to break it up. Close the bag and wrap the bag with paper towel or a cloth, this is to prevent the sharp pieces from puncturing through the plastic and going all over your kitchen. Take a spoon and smash the candy until it is in desired small pieces. Mix a desired amount of candy pieces in the hot chocolate, then add some whipped topping and sprinkle with a little more candy pieces. You can also stick a whole candy cane in the drink, too, for decoration if you want.
